Silver Sorrow

I'm not sure why I bother, but...oh, well. Here I go again.

There may be a pattern here. Not sure.

This is from a T1/G FM:

It's from Winds of Misfortune, by skacky & Prinxellier. It has ruined me for other FMs forever.

This has nothing to do with any of this whatsoever:

That is all.

Y'know, I actually picked up Thief Gold during a recent-ish Steam sale just so I could play its FMs (for the game itself, I've always preferred The Dark Project).  Haven't actually gotten around to any, yet, what with all the new games I'm backlogged on, but still...
Roads?  Where we're going we don't need roads.

So, Silver, always into Asian babes I take it? Some things never change :D Why would they anyway? Preferences are wild and uncontrollable things. Always be cool with it. At least, you're not desperate: "Give me a woman! Any woman will do, blonde, brunette, redhead... I DON'T CARE!". No, you're definitely a man of selective tastes? One has to respect that. XD

I haven't played any Thief FM in a very looong while. Let alone any FM really new. Given how things stand with Thief (meaning there won't be a new one before ages) they should just do a remaster of Thief Gold (or Dark Project) and the Metal Age then keep the FM coming for those. Better graphics, better animations, complete integration with new systems capabilities... That's really all the fans want. And that would give the new generation an occasion to really appreciate what Thief is about rather than trying to figure out what the hell Thief (2014) was...

The drum bit was... interesting! XD Not quite Phil Collins or Chester Thompson but you do what you can with what you have 8)

And the only thing necessary for morons to triumph in our world
Is for the rest of us to naively believe that they are capable of getting better.

The problem I had with Thief Gold is the inclusion of the so-so filler missions (as compared to the originals; on their own, they're perfectly fine but nevertheless somehow wreck the flow of the game) and the changes to accommodate the breaking up of the talisman quest...but I play the original missions so rarely that I can ignore them. It's really just useful for the extras that FMs use.

One thing I wish they had included was Thief 2's ability to scroll through my inventory with the mouse wheel rather than relying on tabbing and alt-tabbing. Instead, we got the Thieves' Guild. Sigh.

Ah...Asian characters. Well, it's still not all *that* easy to make a good-looking Asian babe in modern western games -- witness the horrific (read: blandly uninteresting) results of my attempts with the Veilguard character creator earlier in this very thread) -- but it is getting better. You have a much better chance at making a Black character, especially in Hogwarts, where most of the hairstyles are geared in that direction. My only complaint with that is the dearth of straightforward long, straight hair. Everything is curly in some way, or very short.

I kind of leaned into that with the latest experiment...

And to think all it takes is a makeup mod.

Anyway, as for taste: it's better than the "as long as she's female, I don't care about anything else" mentality of my misspent youth, yes. Focus...determination...refining just *what* kind of fetishistic weirdo I choose to be. :D

Speaking of which, the Slytherin character:

That pointy shadow on her face in the third pane? It's her own hat. See, the shadows aren't perfect...

I have all the bells and whistles turned on for Hogwarts, and...well, it's pretty good. Much better than, say, Quake 2. Or Space Invaders. You know, if comparing games decades apart was in any way fair.

Drums: that guy's an interesting character. I'd recommend his channel just for how good he is at breaking down drum parts.

Back in the day...huh. Chester likely could've done that, but I think Phil would have just rolled his eyes. :D

But Ringo?

Gotta run...the A/C guy is on the way. Getting warm here...more later!

EDIT:

Ok, A/C checks out. You should see the...wait, I have a pic:

It was much worse before he started cleaning it. "It does that every year," he said. This, dear friends, is why seasonal maintenance is important. Or so I'm told.

The irony is that tomorrow it's supposed to be 59 degrees (Fahrenheit, btw) and I'll probably have to turn the heater on. ::)  But back up into the 70's and 80's beginning next week. Yaaaaay.

Btw, Daniel Thron -- you know, one of the original guys at Looking Glass Studios? The voice of the Smart Guard (Benny's partner throughout the series)? -- has released something very much Thief-related:
