Old Forum recovered...

It was a bitch but I managed to recover the most important part of the old forum, the messages, the members... What was lost are the themes (the old themes were not working at all with the newest version of SMF), the custom BBC code that I had installed (like Spoiler Tag) and sorry to say, the custom smileys (I'll try to fix that at some point but for now it's secondary).

The Vault is still a matter for debate. I have not tested it or seen in what measure it could be saved.

As this is a work in progress, the old forum will remain offline for the time being but it is there, basically working and just needs a bit more work to get it completely fixed (as much as I can at least).

Still, it's a relief to see that all the hard work of these past 17 years is not all vaporized.

I put a permanent redirect from https://forums.starfoxweb.com to https://starfoxweb.com/board/ so now intsead of getting an ugly 500 error, typing the old address will redirect to the recovered forum.

There is still work to be done on the recovered forum but for now it is 99% functional and the fine tuning will have to wait. Icons are still a problem, sadly; I will try to see what I can do about it, time allowing.

For now, enjoy. It really is back from the dead.

Talk about speaking too soon.

There's an outstanding problem with the old forum, new posts cannot be created. Technically this is due to the fact that mods weren't properly uninstalled (because when the problem occurred I was cut from access to the forum so I couldn't uninstall them). Those mods were wiped out with the upgrade but there were leftovers and those leftovers prevent posting from occurring.

So for the time being, I'm afraid that the old forum will be read only  until I have time to figure out another way...

At least that means the old content is still accessible,.. take your blessing as they come, I guess.
