QuoteIf Trump annexes Greenland by July 4 2026, when America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, he will go down in history as a figure who asserted the greatness of the United States

Who could say that? You'd think it's one of those pesky Trump supportive morons in the US but... no.

This is a little excerpt coming from the Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, which is concretely a mouthpiece for the Kremlin, hence, Putin. Nothing is published in there that wasn't politically approved by the Kremlin first.

And they are not even mocking Trump there, they are actually congratulating him for leading America on the "path to greatness"... And yes, we are talking about the same Russian government that was condemning Trump move on Venezuela a couple of weeks ago. So why is Greenland more acceptable than Venezuela to Putin?

QuoteStanding in the way of the US president's historic breakthrough is the stubbornness of Copenhagen and the mock solidarity of intransigent European countries, including so-called friends of America, Britain and France,

Yeah, that's true, because the true friend of the US right now is Russia, right? Or more precisely Putin, thanks for confirming what we already know. And I suppose the "intransigent European countries" are the same ones that prevent you from conquering Ukraine, right? By the way, Vladimir, you might have written "Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark". This is trump we're talking about, I'm not sure he knows where Copenhagen is. For all we know he thinks it's the capital of Greenland. You shouldn't assume anything with him. I mean, he was barely able to remember that Alaska was an American state when you visited him there last year. Originally he thought he was in Russia, he was truly stunned to see American planes greeting him. In fact his recent "we don't want Russia as a neighbor" clearly shows that he's still not sure of Alaska's status.

QuoteEurope does not need the American greatness that Trump is promoting. Brussels is counting on 'drowning' the US president in the midterm congressional elections, on preventing him from concluding the greatest deal of his life.

Ooh, "we" intend to throw Donald under the bus of the midterms?!! Oh, Vlad... That may be the first blatant mistake in this piece of "brilliant" journalism. See, Europe actually expects nothing from the midterms. Sad but true. It would be foolish to count on the midterms to achieve any major change in US policy.

But I understand that it's what Vladimir Putin wants Trump to believe, reinforcing his paranoia about Europe being the enemy.

QuoteWith Greenland, the US becomes the second largest country in the world after Russia, surpassing Canada in area. For Americans, that's on par with such planetary events as the abolition of slavery by Abraham Lincoln in 1862 or the territorial conquests of the Napoleonic Wars,

Yeah, that's the idea, throw Napoleon in the mix. It's sure to please Donald. I think it's the first time that someone dares to put him on the same rank as Napoleon... Of course, Napoleon died in exile far away from France so... always be mindful of what you wish. And his army was destroyed in Russia too. Something on your mind for the future, Vlad?

As for "on par with such planetary events as the abolition of slavery by Abraham Lincoln"... Seriously? You equate this event with the potential annexation of Greenland? Wow!! That's brilliant! No, really it is. The first thing you want to know about Trump is that if you want to manipulate him, you have to flatter his ego. Comparing him to Abraham Lincoln, what a stroke of pure genius. After all the reason why Europe don't get any result with Trump is that we always refused to kiss his ass.

QuoteIf, thanks to Trump, Greenland becomes part of America...for sure the American people will not forget such an achievement.

Oh, sure, they won't, because the US will be down in the gutter, with no ally left and easy pickings for the new imperialist Russia, with a little help from China. Remind me of the distance between Eastern Russia and Alaska? Come on Vlad, I'm sure you know it better than me.

QuoteIt is dangerous for the American president to back down over Greenland. This would weaken the position of the Republican Party in the midterm elections and likely result in a Democrat majority on Capitol Hill with the ensuing consequences for Trump. Whereas a rapid annexation of Greenland before the elections can change this political trend.

OK there is the "coup de grace", the orders barely disguised. It may seem like an advice but let's not be fooled, those are instructions nudging Trump in the direction Putin wants. It's interesting to see how Putin may appear to know his stuff, as far as psychological manipulation of an individual goes, and yet make some weird mistakes. First, Vlad, look at the current attitude of the Republicans in Congress regarding Trump's Greenland obsession and you'll see that not all is rosy inside his own party. So if I were you, I wouldn't be counting my chickens just yet. In fact your article might do more to turn more Republicans against Trump than the other way around. Remember something, Vlad. Trump may be in love with you but a vast majority of US politicians aren't.

But anyway, the thing with Putin is that he's a former officer of the KGB (a fact that too many people tend to forget). And he kept many of the habits (and connections) of these previous times. How do you think he was able to assassinate his most prominent political enemies in Russia, and even journalists with opposing views,  without ever being linked to the acts? He doesn't say or have anything published if it's not in his interest. His mind his one of an intelligence officer more than that of a politician. He wants NATO out of the way and what Trump is doing is the best way to achieve that. So of course he would reinforce Trump's delusion with a ton of smooth butter to make it easier to pass.

For some reason though, he seems to think that once only Europe is left, he will be able to easily deal with it. And that, I don't really understand. Our dear Vlad seems to think that Europe is, like him, stuck in the Cold War. I'd suggest he revise his info but then I don't want to give him ideas (not that he reads me anyway). Thanks to Trump, the time when Europe was divided and unable to defend itself in a coordinated manner without the US is vanishing quickly. And maybe that's the point of this article because Vlad knows the clock is ticking... against him.

Guess how many countries have permanent nuclear deterrence patrols at sea all year long these days. Just three, the USA, France and the UK. Russia is no longer part of the club. They have the submarines but due to money and maintenance problems, it's been decades since they were able to keep a complete nuclear deterrence  at sea for more than a few months in a row. China does not have a permanent nuclear deterrence at sea yet, though undoubtedly, they are making the effort and given a few years, they will be ready. But they're not in the process of fighting a losing war in Ukraine so it's easier for them.

Wait... there, I found a BBC article commenting the thing from a  different angle. Always good to have more than one opinion.

There you go.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
And the only thing necessary for morons to triumph in our world
Is for the rest of us to naively believe that they are capable of getting better.
