That's what the French do in their spare time...

It's a serious project that has been ongoing for decades. People wanted to know what it takes to build a real medieval castle from the 13th century without any modern help, just the tools, materials and know how that were available at the time. And it's working.

I recommend to turn subtitles on because even I have difficulties following the narrator with his accent.

You know, we live in comfortable times, with internet, television, radio, computers, electricity... Sure it's considerably better from a comfort point of view but you see those images and it gives you the feel for a different time, a time when time was not an issue. Things were done not according to a schedule but according to needs. Not to say that those times were better, there were still wars, diseases, but when all was well, there was definitely a quality of life we traded off since then for money. It's sad...

Nobody knows when this castle will finally be completed, and nobody cares. It will be done when it will be done, that's the point. It often took centuries and several generations to complete a cathedral... 30 years is nothing. And a lot of those works are still standing today, as the centuries go by. I'm not so sure about our current buildings... Yes, we can build fast, but can it endure?

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
And the only thing necessary for morons to triumph in our world
Is for the rest of us to naively believe that they are capable of getting better.
